Korean auto component suppliers improve quality and increase production with HepcoMotion DTS

Two major Korean automotive component suppliers are using HepcoMotion Driven Track Systems (DTS) to ensure they meet stringent quality and production requirements for the manufacture of critical components for their customers Kia and Hyundai.

The DTS is a highly versatile track system, usually oval shaped, with a number of linked driven carriages that can be accurately positioned so an assembly operation can take place. The track lengths are typically 3m to 6m with 20 plus carriages but longer systems up to 10m are not uncommon.

An improvement in the component quality is as a result of better consistency with respect to the positioning of the carriages. Conventional conveyor type systems often lack the positional accuracy and rigidity required to accommodate assembly forces. The use of DTS leads to less rejects as the assembly operation produces a right first time solution.

HepcoMotion DTS has traditionally been used in Korea for the assembly of electronic parts mostly for the mobile phone manufacturers and this development into the automotive industry is likely to impact strongly on HepcoMotion sales in Korea.

“Korea has been, for 10 years, an important market for us and the Korean facility assembles a range of systems all designed to enhance customers performance from a quality and throughput perspective. Being involved with tier one auto component suppliers will, I am sure, have a positive impact on our expansion plans in this important Asian industrial sector” comments Chris Rees, Sales Director for HepcoMotion.

Word of mouth is a big factor in Korea and no doubt it won’t be too long before other companies within the automotive supply chain hear of the success of DTS and want to incorporate the solution into their production lines.
